Cloudflare Quick Start

Cloudflare set up properly — live in days, not months

A fixed-scope, fixed-price sprint that configures Cloudflare to best practice across DNS, WAF, cache, bots and origin protection, then hands your team a runbook. The fast, low-risk way to start right.

Who this is for

  • New to Cloudflare and want it done right
  • Inherited a messy or default setup
  • Launching and need protection fast
  • Want a credible baseline before going deeper

What’s included

What a Quick Start sets up

A best-practice baseline across the whole Cloudflare surface — not just one toggle.

DNS, SSL/TLS & proxy review

Correct records, full-strict TLS and proxy status set up safely, with no surprise redirect or certificate breakage.

WAF baseline

Managed rules enabled and a sensible custom baseline for checkout, login and admin — rolled out in log mode first.

Cache & performance

Safe cache rules that speed up static and catalogue content while never caching cart, checkout or account pages.

Bot & rate-limit baseline

A sensible starting bot policy and rate limits on login and APIs, with verified search engines kept allowed.

Origin protection

Lock down origin exposure so attackers can’t bypass Cloudflare and hit your server directly.

Runbook handover

A short, environment-specific runbook so your team knows what was changed and how to operate it.

How it works

From kickoff to go-live in four steps

Staged, reversible and watched against real traffic — never a risky big bang.

  1. 1

    1. Kickoff & access

A short scoping call, access to your zone, and a quick review of your platform and goals. We agree the fixed scope up front.

  2. 2

    2. Configure in stages

We set up DNS, TLS, WAF, cache, bots, rate limiting and origin protection — staged and reversible, watching real traffic.

  3. 3

    3. Validate & go live

We test checkout, APIs and key flows, confirm nothing is broken, and move protection from log to enforce where it’s safe.

  4. 4

    4. Handover

You get a runbook, a summary of what changed and why, and clear next steps — plus the option of ongoing care.

Scope

What is and isn’t included

What is included

  • Best-practice configuration across DNS, TLS, WAF, cache, bots, rate limiting and origin
  • Staged rollout with checkout/API validation
  • A runbook and summary of changes
  • A findings walkthrough call
  • Recommendations for deeper work where needed
  • Fixed scope agreed up front

What is not included

  • Deep, per-endpoint WAF or bot tuning (separate projects)
  • Ongoing monitoring (that’s managed care)
  • Application code, hosting or backups
  • Anti-fraud / payment-risk platform

Pricing is indicative and shown in USD. Final pricing depends on traffic, number of domains, your Cloudflare plan, complexity, urgency and support requirements. Every engagement starts with a short scoping conversation.

What Cloudflare can and cannot do

Cloudflare reduces risk, blocks a large share of malicious traffic, hardens critical endpoints and improves performance. No edge platform can make a website completely or permanently secure, and Cloudflare does not, on its own, stop payment fraud or replace secure development, patching, backups, anti-fraud platforms or proper hosting. We configure Cloudflare as one strong layer in a complete security posture.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Cloudflare Quick Start?
It’s a fixed-scope, time-boxed package that gets Cloudflare set up to best practice and live quickly — typically within one to two weeks. It covers DNS, SSL/TLS, a WAF baseline, safe cache rules, a starting bot and rate-limit policy, and origin protection, with a runbook handover so your team can operate it.
How long does it take?
Most Quick Start engagements complete within one to two weeks, depending on access, the number of domains and how complex your platform is. We agree the timeline in the kickoff call.
How is Quick Start different from the full WAF or bot-protection projects?
Quick Start gets a sensible, best-practice baseline live fast across the whole Cloudflare surface. The dedicated WAF, bot-protection, DDoS and Zero Trust projects go much deeper on a single area. Many clients start with Quick Start, then add a focused project where they need more depth.
Will it break my checkout or SEO?
No, when done correctly. We never cache dynamic pages like cart and checkout, we keep verified search engines allowed, and we roll changes out in stages while watching analytics, so customers and crawlers are not affected.
What happens after Quick Start?
You can run Cloudflare yourself using the runbook, add a focused project for deeper protection, or move to a monthly managed-care plan so we keep monitoring and tuning it for you. There is no obligation to continue.

How this project is scoped — no hourly meter

Fixed scope, fixed timeline — priced by deliverable against an agreed Statement of Work, not by an hourly meter. Typically 2–4 weeks, delivered remotely.

What's included

  • Discovery & kick-off call to confirm goals and scope
  • Architecture & configuration review
  • Cloudflare setup for the agreed scope: DNS, SSL/TLS, WAF baseline, caching/performance and the products in your plan
  • Validation and a supervised go-live
  • Handover pack: runbook, configuration documentation and a team walkthrough
  • A 14-day post-go-live support window for fixes to what we configured

Not included (quoted separately)

  • Non-Cloudflare work (application/backend changes, third-party security tools)
  • Additional domains/zones beyond the agreed scope
  • Ongoing monthly management (that is a Care plan)
  • Anything not in the Statement of Work — handled as a separately quoted change order

Indicative “from” prices are a starting point. Your final price is confirmed in a written proposal after a free scoping call, and depends on the number of zones, the Cloudflare products in scope and environment complexity.
